5 different race winners will be awesome!

13th March 2012, 18:01
5 is great, but actually we’ve had 5 different winners last season too, although it didnt seem like it, did it? Vettel, Hamilton, Button, Alonso and Webber. It would get interesting if there would be 6-7 different winners (if we count Mercedes too, or Raikkonen)

I think you are being overly depressive in your thinking there @daykind.
I would go for this:
1. What will be the best surprise? – Both HRT and Marussia getting inside the 107% right from the start
2. What will be the worst surprise? Finding out that Force India is broke before mid season
3. How many different teams will win races? I’d expect 3, but I would love to see 4 of them, with Rosberg scoring his first.
4. Who will be the first driver to fail to qualify for a race? Hm, I guess that will be Bruno Senna, probably from a problem before qualifying. Or bad strategy for Hamilton.
5. How many races will Fernando Alonso win? I guess it might turn right towards the second half of the season and he gets 2 in.
6. What will Kimi Raikkonen’s best result be? I would hope for a podium finish in Spa.
7. Where will Caterham finish in the constructors’ championship? 10th, again.
8. Will Michael Schumacher announce a new contract for 2013? Yes, but it won’t be clear from the wording if he will be actually a race driver (remember Trullis contract)
9. How many teams will still belong to FOTA at the end of the season? Either all but Red Bull again or it will have deteriorated to only McLaren+Mercedes+Marussia+Force India and put to rest.
10. Who will be the first driver to be replaced or substituted? That’s an easy one. Narain will be replaced first.
11. And who will take their place? I would say Clos gets a one off shot at driving in Spain.
12. Which driver will receive the most penalties? Massa
13. Will Robert Kubica start an F1 race in 2012? No, he will test an F1 car but go racing elsewhere
14. Who will retire first in the Australian Grand Prix? Hm, that would be Sebastian Vettel, after Hamilton hits him from behind :-)
15. Who will win the United States Grand Prix? Mark Webber
16. What will be the biggest political story of the year? Concorde Agreement pulling and shoving.
17. What will be the most entertaining race of the year? lets make a wild guess and say Valencia will suddenly throw up something nice due to rain!
18. How many points will the winning driver score? Ehm, 244 points
19. Who will win the Constructor’s Championship?
McLaren (because Webber will be doing “the best for the team” to often and Vettel will also suffer a bit of reliability problems)
20. Who will win the Driver’s Championship?
I went for Jenson Button, although I seriously doubt he can make it past everyone else. But It would be genuinly great to see him do that. With Hamilton close behind.

I love this time of year!
1. What will be the best surprise?
HRT won’t be as bad as expected, finishing ahead of at least Marussia regularly on merit.
2. What will be the worst surprise?
Caterham won’t have made as much progress as most people suspect. I think they’ll be stuck in Q1 at least 75% of the time.
3. How many different teams will win races?
Lets plump for four… Red Bull, McLaren and two from Ferrari, Mercedes and Lotus (Renault!).
4. Who will be the first driver to fail to qualify for a race?
Charles Pic
5. How many races will Fernando Alonso win?
Either one or zero due to the poor Ferrari.
6. What will Kimi Raikkonen’s best result be?
I suspect he will find it tough… I’ll say about 4th.
7. Where will Caterham finish in the constructors’ championship?
10th
8. Will Michael Schumacher announce a new contract for 2013?
In two minds… depends on his performance, but I’ll say yes.
9. How many teams will still belong to FOTA at the end of the season?
None, I expect it will desolve.
10. Who will be the first driver to be replaced or substituted?
Oooh… you can’t predict replacements due to injury. I think Liuzzi will replace Karthikeyan at about half way.
11. And who will take their place?
Oh… ok! Liuzzi.
12. Which driver will receive the most penalties?
Lewis “Ali G” Hamilton.
13. Will Robert Kubica start an F1 race in 2012?
No… and I fear not in 2013 either.
14. Who will retire first in the Australian Grand Prix?
Let’s go for… oooh… Maldonado.
15. Who will win the United States Grand Prix?
Bernie Ecclestone?… No, I’ll say Vettel.
16. What will be the biggest political story of the year?
Something involving Ecclestone.
17. What will be the most entertaining race of the year?
Canada
18. How many points will the winning driver score?
312…
19. WDC?
Vettel, again… by a nose from Hamilton/Button.
20. WCC?
McLaren… because of Webber’s underperforming.

IMO all ties to Lotus are cut.
Either Ferrari, If Massa gets sacked mid-season, or a bought race seat at Sauber (courtesy of Ferrari). But still, it’s highly improbable to see him actually racing. As I said in my answers – no races, but quite a lot of testing.
