  1. Should we run a sweepstake on how many shots we get of Vlad in the grandstand looking like a mafia boss?

    1. I thought he was driving this weekend?

      1. Don’t the records in Russia state that he won last year, lapping the entire field in the process?

        1. He actually lapped them 5 times, and then reopened a gulag and sent them all there because Verstappen decided to move left to let Vlad pass, but Vlad decided to move in the same direction, and he interpreted that as blocking. The same thing once happened in Bahrain, and the Emir had Mark Webber’s hands cut off.

        2. Brilliant :)

      2. As far as I can tell, he’ll be doing the following:

        Driving all 20 cars.
        Chief race steward.
        Chief scrutineer.
        Podium interviewer.
        Head caterer for all teams.
        Driver of safety car.
        Present at every marshal post.
Pit girl (we’ve already seem him half-naked).
        Hamilton groupie.
        Kimi’s new race engineer.
First spectator to invade track after race.
        Conductor of national anthem.
Puts on Bernie’s diapers, brushes his hair and inserts his false teeth before removing his foot from his mouth.

All at the same time. The man’s a legend. Or something.

        1. doh…I ended up in the cheese isle

        2. You forgot that he’ll be the head steward. No better person to serve justice on track

  2. Zero. Don Vlad Putin makes all those who takes pictures of him sleep with the fishes in the Black Sea.

  3. I would like to see a wider track, say starting at turn 17, and progressive banking at all the corners from 17 through 3 (the long left hander); also 2 should be re-profiled to allow side-by-side driving. I think these changes would allow the cars to be close enough to facilitate passing in turn 3. This would be a thrilling spectacle and make-up for Sochi’s lack of aa good overtaking straight.

  4. Next year the start time of this race will probably be 7 pm local time as this GP is planned to be a twilight (daylight to dusk/dark) race.

Okay, please don’t shout at me for mentioning another sport…

But there is a certain football match between Manchester United and Leicester City taking place at the same time as the race on Sunday. It could be a very historical moment despite what you think of football.

I’m just very interested to see how the UK viewing figures for the Grand Prix will look.

SkySportsF1 must be pretty annoyed at how that schedule has turned out :)

    1. Not watching the Grand Prix this weekend because I have tickets to watch the match at old trafford :)

You Sir are a very lucky man! The chance to witness one of the greatest moments in the history of sport.

Can anyone confirm for me whether the race starts at 1pm or 3pm UK time?

    Cheers!
