Easily Perez. Qualified second and drove beautifully in the race under a lot of pressure.

Perez, Leclerc, Norris – all of those had a really good weekend. Alonso would have been up there, but since his car gave up once again (how often have we seen that this year!) it’s hard to judge, since we won’t know how he would have finished.

He was defending very well from verstappen, and so did norris, I voted for alonso as I felt he was underrepresented, thin 60% for perez is a bit much, he had the clear best car, but he also started well and won the race there, so makes sense he gets more votes than any other driver.

No doubt Perez, was strong all weekend, on the attack (on the first laps) and on the defence (only 2 mistakes under great pressure from Charles and taking in consideration the track conditions). Also to mention Charles, Norris and Lance with 3 good races. Glad also to see Ric up there

Lance Stroll was not the best, but it was his best drive in a very long time, if not ever. Honorable mention for him. Another one for Fernando, unlucky today but kept Max at bay seemingly forever.
Max really dropped the ball this weekend, even worse than in Monaco, his only 2 bad weekends in the season (not counting mech failures which were not his fault). Carlos had no pace in the wet. Charles had a big, race-losing mistake just after launch. Dan had surely his best race of the season so far (small praise). No big mistakes also for the FingerWunder, one of his best races since the blown diffuser is history. Lance was pretty good again after a long slump, I’d give him a tie with Checo for DOTW.

And maybe I should mention, no big mistakes from the Ferrari wall, hope springs eternal.

I think the drivers overruled them several times. The team were ready for pitstops, sometimes for fresh inters. On a drying track!!

Stroll had a really good weekend. And all the more so given Vettel tends to do very well in Singapore. Stroll also has a weird habit of doing well under these slightly wet conditions.

Ricciardo. 16th to 5th is outstanding.
Great drive by Perez.

That’s ridiculous to vote for Ricciardo. But it’s your opinion I guess.
He was nowhere compared to Norris during quali, it was only luck that he gained those places, and even with softer tyres he couldn’t keep up with Norris after the final SC.
Very nice guy, and certainly skilled. But his performance in the McLaren is terrible (that’s my observation and my opinion).

Norris was running upgrades and Dan played shot gun after the safety car..lot of luck but still a great drive by Dan

Didn’t Norris have a load of upgrades from Singapore? The ones that DR didn’t have…

3rd October 2022, 9:32
yes, but do you believe those explain the 31s gap between Norris and Ricciardo over the final 19 laps?
bogaaaa (@nosehair)
3rd October 2022, 10:19
He was managing the gap to to stroll not Norris.

I doubted between Lewis an Max, about the only drivers who tried to pass another car. Voted for Hamilton. The poor guy can need a little support.

I voted for Lewie since he used Verstaffen-language on the “live” radio and did not get criticized. /s/

Shouldn’t you then have voted for Max considering he not only tried but actually overtook multiple cars?
Agree that Lewis could use a little support after his high hopes for Singapore only to finished 9th.
Weirdly enough for once Ferrari was the best of the top 3 teams in terms of strategy and execution.

Messing up qualy, messing up the start, squaring your tyres in the race, teammate showing the car is easily capable of winning,… not really qualifies VER for driver of the weekend.
Pjotr (@pietkoster)

No it doesn’t. A bad weekend for Max. Still RB took the win. Would be an easy one two if Max would have been on pole. The way Perez got his 7 sec from Leclerc in a few laps….

LEC blew it at the start and PER never looked back in the rocket that is a 2022 Red Bull. RIC earned it today.

Went with Lando. He kinda went under the radar but solidly out qualified Daniel yet again, drove a solid race and brought home great points. Sergio was largely faultless but botched the safety car periods. He’s pretty lucky to have gotten away with it really.

It was strange because i saw many other drivers doing the same thing over and over and Sergio had much more difficult with the slipperness when the tyres cooled….

Difficult to choose.
Max had errors of his own as well as on the pitwall this weekend. Tough luck. Both Mercedes drivers had plenty of errors.
Checo did well, but botched the safety car restarts and given his final spurt of speed, Red Bull clearly was a winning car this weekend, so all he did was deliver on the car potential.
Carlos was off-pace all race. Charles was good, but he probably could have done more to stay within 5 second range, don’t believe Ferrari was that poor.
I think Lando was the guy for me. Drove anonymously, but no mistakes. And was comfortable 1.5-2s a lap quicker than Daniel. That’s a massive gap.

DOTW & DOTD: PER with honorable mention to NOR for both + RIC & STR for the latter accolade.

i think perez wasn’t quick enough in qualifying for the ability of the car to be driver of the weekend. Verstappen was nearly a full second up on Perez’s best time in sectors 1 and 2 alone before he was told to abort his lap. Some will say his time was aided by lack of fuel, but that will make next to no difference to the weight. Perez should have been 1st by quite some margin. He won the race as he should have, but his race wasn’t all that clean. He made several small lockups as well as playing around with the safety car enough times that it got him a penalty.
Somewhat overrated drive IMO. Sky were also getting carried away saying it was his best ever drive.

Who would you have picked though? I also felt voting for perez was too mainstream (though he drove well) but not sure who did better.

Can always open and check the poll result ofc, perez is a clear winner here, he has 4x the votes norris has, those places are set in stone.
