Commentating: How hard can it be…
Posted onI know a lot of British F1 fans get irritated by ITV commentator James Allen. I’ve never been a big fan either but I’ve tried not to get too drawn into the Allen-bashing because, much like when it comes to discussing the talents of F1 drivers, I’ve never done it so I don’t feel I … Continue reading Commentating: How hard can it be…
The Ben Evans column: ITV aren’t bad
Posted onAnother early start for the UK’s armchair fans unfortunately didn?óÔé¼Ôäót equate to another exciting race last Sunday. He is expected to be joining James Allen in the commentary box in place of Martin Brundle, who usually misses the Hungarian race.
The Ben Evans Column: Rant
Posted onMaybe its because of my bad run of results in Formula Vee, or maybe its because, Canada and Europe excepted, Formula One is rather boring this year, but I have spent the past couple of weeks feeling unusually indifferent towards motor racing. I think partly its because once I start feeling a bit down towards … Continue reading The Ben Evans Column: Rant
Murray Walker vs James Allen
Posted onBritish F1 fans – will you be tuning in to BBC Radio 5 Live’s qualifying and race broadcasts with Murray Walker this weekend? Or will you be sticking with ITV’s James Allen for the European Grand Prix? I’m in a bind – I’ve always been a huge Murray Walker fan (and was thrilled to interview … Continue reading Murray Walker vs James Allen
James Allen’s 100th Grand Prix
Posted onSix years ago James Allen officially took over the ITV mike from Murray Walker. He had done a few live F1 broadcasts for ITV before then, and last weekend saw him rack up his 100th. So it was quite fitting that the Canadian Grand Prix should be won by Lewis Hamilton – Allen makes no … Continue reading James Allen’s 100th Grand Prix
